2.SILK HABUTAI BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Habutai or Habotai is one of the most basic plain weaves. While it was traditionally woven in Japan, most Habutai is today woven in China. It is normally a lining silk but can also be used for T-shirts, lampshades, summer blouses or very light lingerie. It is quite easy to dye and can be found in many stores. Habotai usual weight is 5 to 16mm,114cm or 140cm width.

3.SILK FABRIC PROPERTIES AND USES
Silk is one of the strongest natural fibers but loses up to 20% of its strength when wet. It has a good moisture regain of 11%. Its elasticity is moderate to poor: if elongated even a small amount, it remains stretched. It can be weakened if exposed to too much sunlight. It may also be attacked by insects, especially if left dirty.Silk has a smooth, soft texture that is not slippery, unlike many synthetic fibers.

Silk fabric has many distinct properties,such as comfortable feeling,thermal resistant,breathable,uvioresistant,heat retention,noise-absorbent,dust-absorbent,antistatic.It is often used for clothing such as shirts, ties, blouses, formal dresses(eg.cheongsam dress),high fashion clothes, lingerie, pyjamas, robes, dress suits, sun dresses and Eastern folk costumes. Silk's attractive lustre and drape makes it suitable for many furnishing applications. It is used for upholstery, wall coverings, window treatments (if blended with another fiber), rugs, bedding and wall hangings.

Silkworm silk was used as the standard for the denier, a measurement of linear density in fibers. Mommes (mm) are units of weight traditionally used to measure the density of silk.1M/M=4.3056G.The thicker silk fabric becomes if momme value is higher.

Most silk fabrics are easily crinkled.Silk fabric has a properity of shrinkage,so it should be washed under 30°C before garment construction.There is almost no gradual shrinkage nor shrinkage after washing procedure.Line dry the washed fabric in shade,no overlapping.Do not soak silk fabric,this is very important.
