Calcium Fluorite Introduction:

Calcium Fluorite (also called fluorspar),chemical formula caF2, molecular weight 78.08. Is fluorspar or Calcium fluorite main ingredient. Colorless cubic crystal, natural ores containing impurities, slightly green or purple. Extremely difficult to dissolve in water. Can be dissolved in hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid and ammonium salt solution. Soluble aluminum and iron salts solution to form complexes. Calcium fluoride with concentrated sulfuric acid in a leaden hydrogen fluoride reaction can be obtained. Hydrofluoric acid is used to manufacture calcium fluoride, fluoride, ceramic, enamel. Metallurgical industry used as a flux, organic reactions as dehydration or dehydrogenation catalysts. Can also be used in electronics, instrumentation, optical instrument manufacturing.

1.Ceramics and Building Materials industry CaF2 (85%~95%)

Ceramic grade

Much of this material is used in the manufacture of specialty glass, ceramics and enamelware. Calcium fluorite is used to make glazes and surface treatments that produce hard glossy surfaces, opalescent surfaces and a number of other appearances that make consumer glass objects more attractive or more durable. The non-stick cooking surface known as Teflon is made using fluorine derived from Calcium Fluorite

Building materials industry

Calcium fluorite can production emulsifying glass, opaque glass and colored glass material, can decrease the glass melting temperature, improved melt, melting speed, which can reduce the fuel consumption rate.Mineralized cement clinker agent, can reduce the sintering temperature, easy to calcination, sintering time and save energy.

2. Flux In Steel Making (CaF2>65% S<0.03% P<0.08%)

Metallurgical grade

Metallurgical grade Calcium Fluorite contains between 60 and 85% CaF2. Much of this material is used in the production of iron, steel and other metals. Calcium Fluorite can serve as a flux that removes impurities such as phosphorous from molten metal and improves the fluidity of slag. Between 20 and 60 pounds of Calcium fluorite is used for every ton of metal produced. In the United States many metal producers use that exceeds metallurgical grade.

Steel is an alloy between iron and carbon. The conversion of iron ore into steel necessarily involves smelting the ore, along with coke, in a blast furnace. Refineries add a "flux" to iron ore and coke mixtures to lower the melting temperature. This lowers the operating temperature of the furnace, thereby reducing energy consumption and production costs. The flux also aids in the formation of the "slag" on the surface of the molten steel that contains most of the impurities.

3.Hydrofluoric Acid and Its Derivatives (CaF2>97% SiO2<0.1% CaCO3<1.2%)

Acid grade

Calcium fluorite is used mainly in the chemical industry to manufacture hydrofluoric acid (HF). The HF is then used to manufacture a variety of products which include: fluorocarbon chemicals, foam blowing agents, refrigerants and a variety of fluoride chemicals.
Calcium Fluorite serves as one of the raw materials in the production of hydrofluoric acid and hydrofluoric acid production accounts for most of the Calcium fluorite consumed in the United States each year. Hydrofluoric acid, in turn, serves as a key component in the manufacture of numerous important compounds. Hydrofluoric acid also serves as the precursor to fluorosilicic acid, the primary source of fluoride in municipal water supplies, and to sodium fluoride, the fluoride component in many toothpastes.

4.Specialty application (CaF2>80% Fe2O3<0.2%)

Optical grade

In the product of glass, Specimens of Calcium Fluorite with exceptional optical clarity have been used as lenses. Calcium fluorite has a very low refractive index and a very low dispersion. These two characteristics enable the lens to produce extremely sharp images. Today, instead of using natural Calcium fluorite crystals to manufacture these lenses, high-purity fluorite is melted and combined with other materials to produce synthetic "fluorite" lenses of even higher quality. These lenses are used in optical equipment such as microscopes, telescopes and cameras.

Lapidary grade

Calcium fluorite is also cut and carved into ornamental objects such as small figurines and vases. These are often treated with a coating or impregnation to enhance their stability and protect them from scratches.
