Ferrous Sulfate Heptahydrate, also called copperas, is a bluegreen crystals;

soluble in water, melts at 64 C. It is commercially generated as a byproduct

during the manufacture of Titanium Dioxide, or as a byproduct of the pickling of steel.

(1). Symptoms include leaves turning yellow or brown in the margins between the veins which may

remain green, while young leaves may appear to be bleached.

(2). Any plant may be affected, but raspberries and pears are particularly susceptible, as well as most acidloving

plants such as azaleas ,kaffir lily ,chrysanthemum and camellias.

Symptoms of iron chlorosis include general yellowing of leaves with veins remaining green, starting with youngest leaves. (shown in Figure below)

1.Used as fertilizer,in the agricultural, lawn and garden, and turf management industries use ferrous sulfate to correct iron chlorosis or deficiencies in plants and soils. It is usually used for micronutrient fertilizer to promote the growth of plants.2.Used as coagulation for wastewater treatment,decoloring well. 3.It can remove sulphide, phosphate when used as precipitant. 4.Used for reduction of hexavalent chromium in electroplating factory wastewater treatment. It is a reducing agent,for the reduction of chromate in cement. 5.Used as nutritions of microorganism in biochemical system, it can improve the organism’s activity. 6.It can also be used as raw material of pigment and electronics, hydrogen sulphide deodorants, soil amendment, and industrial catalysts.
