Antibacterial Drug Oxytetracycline HCL Injection 5% 10% 20%

Composition: Per ml solution: 100 mg oxytetracycline hydrochloride

Target species: Cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, cats and dogs.

Indications:

In general, Oxytetracyclin 10% is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by micro-organisms sensitive to oxytetracyclin.

Contra-indications: Allergy to tetracyclines, impaired liver and/or kidney function.

Side-effects:

Hypersensitivity reactions (rare), transient swelling at the site of the injection, collapse following rapid intravenous administration.

Dosage and administration:

Intramuscular, subcutaneous (poultry) or intravenous injection:

--The general dosage is 5-10 mg/kg per day (0.5-1ml per 10kg bodyweight) for 3 to 5 days:

maximum dosage in the young animals, lower dosage in adults.

--Alternative dosage is 20 mg/kg (2ml per 10kg bodyweight i.m.) to be repeated once after 48 hours.

--In poultry the dosage is 25-50 mg/kg per day (0.5-1ml per 2kg bodyweight) for 3 to 5 days.

Intra-uterine use (single administration) :

Cow: 2500 mg per animal (25 ml solution).

Ewe/Doe: 1000 mg per animal (10 ml solution).

Withdrawal time:

For meat: 14 days.

For milk (i.m.or.i.v): 4 days

For milk (i.u.): 2 days
