Maleic acid resin is the slight yellow transparent solid, which is adducts of gum rosin and maleic anhydride through the esterification by glycerol or penpaerythritol.

Maleic acid resin is souble in coat

tars,esters,turpentine oil,insoluble in alcoholic solvents, partially soluble in petroleum solvents. Soluble well in plants oils, which with the advantages of stable color,resistant to yellowing, good heat resistant and adhesion.

Maleic acid resin are used in paint and coating industries widely, for product of phenolic paints(through polymerization with plant oils) improve hardness of paint films, gloss and rubbing property for polyesters nitro and PU paints.
